How this Works

In some measure, this is a collaborative process.  This just means you'll need to provide me with information such as the following.  Please read this carefully.

• Web Site’s Content - most important, you will need to email me the content you want to appear on your website.  If you need to regularly update the content, we can arrange a maintenance agreement of approximately $50 a quarter for unlimited content revision.  Otherwise, I'll change the text for free until the site is up and running.
• Dividing Content into Subsections - I'll need to know the names of the subsections you want to include, and what content should be included with them.  For instance, this is the "How this Works" subsection.
• Naming the Website - you will have to come up with a name for your website that is not already taken by someone else.  A good way to check is by entering the name in Site Plum’s ‘Domain Availability’ applet.  Just visit this link and enter any webstite names you had in mind.  (Or, if you'd like, just enter the names in a browser.  The ones that give you a "404 server error" message are available.)
• Hosting & Registering the Website Name - once you have your new website name, it must be registered on the web.  This is usually done with the same host that serves your web pages.  You will need to have an outside account handling the billing of name registration.  A third pary will also bill you for hosting, that is, serving, of your web pages.  The web host I have been using costs $10 a year for the domain name, and $4 to $10 a month for hosting (the exact rate depends on the package, visitor statistics and extra domain names cost more).
• Images - if you have images or photos to include you should email them.  If there are more than 10 you'll probably have to send me a CD through regular mail.  Attachments of that size may be blocked by email servers.
• Color scheme - if you have a color scheme preference or a color preference, let me know and I'll implement it.
• Other Websites - if there are any websites you've seen that you like, I can try to incorporate its features into your website.  You would just need to email the links (copy and paste the website address from the top of the browser into an email message).
• Website Statistics - Stock web statistics are available for several web hosting packages.  Customized web statistics are also available.  These show exactly what a prospective customer entered on a search engine to reach your website, and what they saw when they got there.  It also includes a listing of prospective customers’ area code, zip code, and country, as well as a Google map to graphically see their location.
• Purpose of Website - these websites are designed for business promotion, shopping carts, client relations, informational, and entertainment purposes.
